Sunday, October 7. 200730 WeeksIf the title of this post wasn't clear enough, we are at 30 weeks. Our doctor has confirmed that things are looking pretty darn good. In "this" corner, we have Mulva, weighing in at 1372 grams (~ 3 lbs)! And in "this" corner, we have Dolores weighing in at 1597 grams (~ 3.5 lbs)! The boxing analogy works because I'm pretty sure Kris will attest to the fact that they are more or less beating each other up in there... and quite often! Might be a one-sided fight though, since Dolores has the weight advantage. That's it, Dolores is grounded! Once she's out, she is NOT leaving her crib for a whole month! That should teach her to whale on her little sister! As should be expected when one is pregnant, Kris is much like a turtle on its back, oftentimes waving her arms and legs as she tries to get up from laying on her back. As amusing as that is, I do feel bad for the discomfort she is going through right now. 1 I think Mulva might be goin' as Beetlejuice... whuddya think? Friday, September 14. 2007Almost 27 weeks! And counting...Finally, Mulva and Dolores went to their first concert this week to see Genesis! It was very exciting, and judging by what Kris was feeling in her belly, I think they enjoyed it. Those girls will certainly grow up to appreciate good music. Tuesday, July 24. 2007Gender announcementWell, today was the big day! I'll make this short and sweet... we are having two girls!!!! This came as a major surprise to us. For some reason, we were convinced it was going to be either boy/girl or boy/boy, but that's alright. The only thing that really matters, is that they're born healthy. Some intelligence and good looks wouldn't hurt either. Out of all the pictures we were given, I decided these four were the best. The last three are of "Baby B" and the first one is "Baby A". Yes, I think now is a good time to graduate them from "beans" to babies. They're so growed up now, I'm gettin' all teary eyed. They done made papa proud... We're comin' up on 20 weeks soon, so we're more than half way there! According to the doctor, we would want to shoot for a delivery date of around 36 weeks. 37 or 38 would be better, but it seems 36 is fairly average for twins (which would be 4 weeks earlier than a singleton pregnancy). That's the news for now folks... I'm just gonna let the "two girls" part sink in a little... It's very crazy knowing that Kris and I will be the parents of two little baby girls soon. They're not beans anymore... they're our little girls!! Friday, July 6. 20073D/4D Ultrasounds While futzin' around on the ol' internets, I came across GoldenView Ultrasound's website, a company whose services provide you with 3D ultrasounds. As I was perusing the site, admiring all the cool pictures, I realized one of their two locations is Boston! We're actually considering getting this done. It just looks so neat! If anyone knows more about 3D ultrasounds, or has had them done before, please comment back and let us know your thoughts. Is the whole thing not as cool as it looks? Is it awesomer than anything you've ever paid for? Do you love it so much that you wish you had 3D images of your intestines? If you have 3D images of your intestines, feel free to post a link. Friday, June 29. 2007What's the Sex?!
I was looking forward to Kris' appointment with the doctor today, because I was going to go with her, and we were going to maybe find out the sex of our twins. We get to the doctor's office at 11:15 (for an 11:15 appointment). Kris signs in, and we sit down in the fairly packed waiting room.
Fast forward 1 hour and 10 minutes when we're finally called in to see the doctor. I'm already agitated from waiting so long, but finally seeing the doctor in the exam room puts me at ease. I was pretty excited to see the ultrasound, whether they're able to tell the sex or not, 'cause it's just cool! The last time I saw an ultrasound with Kris in person was over a month ago, and since then they've grown so much, so I knew it was gonna be even cooler than before! But first, they take care of boring "standard" stuff... take Kris' blood pressure, weigh her, have her pee in a cup... the "usual". Next, we move on to gooping up Kris' belly and doing an "audio-only" ultrasound. That's the only way I can describe it, I don't know what that thing was called, but it's used to listen to the beans' heartbeats. She picked out the two distinct heartbeats (yay!), and both were strong and healthy. Next, the doctor asks Kris how she's feelin', and if we have any questions. Feelin' great, no questions. Ok, see ya in three weeks!. Wait. What? No ultrasound? Nah, we'll do it in three weeks with all the other tests we're gonna have to do then anyway. Just do them all together. {WHAT?! NO ULTRASOUND?! WHY AM I HERE?!!!!!!!} Thank you doctor, was nice to meet you. I took a half day from work to go to this appointment! What a waste!!!!!! Lesson learned folks... If you're a guy, and you want to be there for ultrasounds, make sure to call before the appointment to confirm whether an ultrasound is going to be done or not. So, I guess we wait three more weeks. I would imagine, since Kris will be much further along in three weeks, that they'll definitely be able to tell the sex. So hopefully we can make that announcement then...
